Now that we have our ingredients ready, it’s time to get cooking! In this section, I will take you through the step-by-step process of making these delicious homemade vegan doritos.

Step 1: Preheat Oven and Line Baking Sheet

Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set it aside while we prepare the tortillas.

Step 2: Cut Tortillas into Triangle Shapes

Take the corn tortillas and cut them into triangle shapes using a pizza cutter or a sharp knife. Make sure each chip is roughly the same size to ensure even cooking.

Step 3: Make the Flavouring Mixture

In a mixing bowl, combine nutritional yeast, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Mix them until they are well combined.

Step 4: Coat the Tortilla Chips

Take your chips and place them in a mixing bowl with coconut oil. Mix them until they are well coated. After that, add the flavoring mixture to the bowl with chips and toss until all chips are fully coated.

Step 5: Arrange Chips on Baking Sheet

Arrange the tortilla chips in a single layer on your lined baking sheet, making sure there is enough space around each chip for even cooking.

Step 6: Bake in Preheated Oven

Bake the chips in preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.

Step 7: Let Cool and Enjoy!

Once done baking, take out your homemade vegan doritos from the oven and let them cool down for a few minutes. Serve them immediately or store them in an airtight container for later use.

Congratulations! You have now made your own batch of delicious homemade vegan doritos. Enjoy them as a tasty snack or use them in recipes like loaded nachos or taco salad. These vegan doritos are perfect for any occasion!

As with any recipe, it’s always fun to experiment with different ingredients and flavors to make it your own. Here are some ideas for substitutions and variations you can try with this vegan Doritos recipe.

– Chips: While this recipe calls for traditional corn tortilla chips, you could also try using sweet potato or beet chips for a slightly sweeter taste. For a gluten-free version, be sure to choose gluten-free chips.

– Nutritional yeast: This ingredient is key for achieving that cheesy flavor in these vegan Doritos, but if you don’t have any on hand, you can replace it with a vegan cheese alternative or omit it altogether.

– Spices: Feel free to adjust the amount of chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder to your liking. You could also add other spices like cumin or smoked paprika for extra depth of flavor.

– Oils: This recipe calls for coconut oil, but you could sub in olive oil or another neutral-tasting oil if preferred.

– Flavors: Want to mix things up? Try making these Doritos in different flavors! Add 1/4 cup of finely crushed sweet chili chips for sweet and spicy Doritos or add 2 teaspoons of ranch seasoning for cool ranch flavored chips. You could even mix and match different flavors by dividing the dough into three portions and adding 1 tablespoon of cheese powder, 2 tablespoons of nutritional yeast, or 1 teaspoon of taco seasoning to each portion. This will give you three different flavors of vegan Doritos that are perfect for loaded nachos or a taco salad.

Overall, this recipe is pretty forgiving and allows you to get creative with your substitutions and variations. Have fun experimenting with different flavors and ingredients to make it your own!

Ah, my favorite part of any recipe – the serving and pairing suggestions! These vegan Doritos are so incredibly versatile, there are countless ways to enjoy them. Of course, you can always opt for the classic snack route and just munch on them straight out of the bag. Nothing wrong with that! But if you’re feeling a bit more creative, here are some ideas for how to serve and pair your vegan Doritos for maximum deliciousness.

First up, the obvious choice: loaded nachos. Take a heaping pile of these homemade vegan Doritos and layer them with beans, salsa, guacamole, vegan cheese… whatever your heart desires! Pop it all in the oven to melt everything together, then top with fresh cilantro and diced tomatoes. Heavenly.

But if you’re looking for something a bit lighter (or just want to balance out your snack game), try crumbling up some of your homemade vegan Doritos onto a taco salad. The crunchiness adds an addictive texture to an already-great dish.

If you’re feeling extra indulgent, use your homemade vegan Doritos as a base for a cheesy dorito casserole. Layer them with some vegan chili or crumbled tofu mixed with taco seasoning and finish it off with a topping of dairy-free cheese. Baked in the oven, it’s comfort food at its finest.

And last but not least: why not make some vegan popcorn and sprinkle on some of your homemade Doritos seasoning? It’s an unexpected twist on a classic snack that’ll have everyone raving.

No matter how you choose to serve your vegan Doritos, just make sure to pair with your favorite drink (may I suggest a refreshing margarita?) and enjoy every delicious bite guilt-free. Trust me, these plant-based goodies will quickly become one of your new go-to snacks.

Make-Ahead, Storing and Reheating

You won’t even miss the dairy with the satisfying tang and crunch of these vegan Doritos.
You won’t even miss the dairy with the satisfying tang and crunch of these vegan Doritos.

Making homemade vegan Doritos is a fun and rewarding project that can be enjoyed for days. Fortunately, these delicious chips can be made well in advance and stored for later use. You can make a large batch of them and store them in an airtight container, which can help to keep them fresh for about two weeks.

If you want to keep your homemade vegan Doritos as crispy as possible, don’t add the seasoning until you are ready to serve them. Simply store the plain chips in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator if you want them crispier.

Reheating the chips is also simple although not necessary since they are intended to be eaten at room temperature. But if you prefer warm Doritos, simply heat them briefly in the oven at 275°F for about 5-10 minutes. Don’t microwave the chips or cook them at high temperatures as it will make them soggy.

Additionally, leftovers of these vegan chips can easily be incorporated into other dishes like loaded nachos or taco salad. You could also crumble them and use them as toppings over soups and stews.

These homemade vegan Doritos are perfect for playdates or parties since they are inexpensive and take very little time to prepare. So next time you have a craving for guilty pleasure snacks, try making these vegan doritos instead of resorting to store-bought versions full of artificial ingredients.

Tips for Perfect Results

From the first bite, you’ll know that these vegan Doritos are the real deal.
From the first bite, you’ll know that these vegan Doritos are the real deal.

To achieve the perfect vegan Doritos, there are some essential tips that you should follow. Here are some helpful insights to get your desired results.

Firstly, use high-quality ingredients for the recipe. The taste of your vegan Doritos highly depends on the quality of spices and nutritional yeast used in making them. Use fresh spices such as garlic powder, chili powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika to elevate the flavor of your Doritos.

Secondly, make sure that you have evenly coated each tortilla chip with the spice blend mixture. To create even coating, try shaking the spice blend mixture over a plate of chips until they’re covered with an even layer of delicious flavor.

Thirdly, avoid overcrowding your baking sheet to ensure proper baking. If you pile up too many chips on a single sheet pan during baking, they will not be able to get crispy and may end up soggy.

Fourthly, keep an eye on the baking process while preparing homemade vegan Doritos. It is essential to bake them at the correct temperature and avoid overcooking or undercooking them. This can ruin the texture of your Doritos.

Finally, let your vegan Doritos cool down completely before serving or storing them. Warm chips will not store well in containers and can become stale very quickly. So make sure they are at room temperature before sealing them in an airtight container.

With these tips in mind, you can create a delectable vegan copycat of homemade Doritos that will be hard to resist. Grab a bowl of freshly made Doritos, load them up with cheese and toppings for loaded nachos or taco salad, or save some for popcorn seasoning —the possibilities are endless!

Bottom Line

In conclusion, this homemade vegan doritos recipe is a must-try for anyone looking to indulge in guilty pleasures without any guilt. With 3 different flavors – nacho cheese, cool ranch, and chili – you can enjoy your favorite classic chips while sticking to your dietary restrictions.

Not only is this recipe dairy-free and gluten-free, but it also uses natural ingredients with nutritional yeast as the star ingredient that provides a cheesy flavor without any animal products.
